it is unusual that yeats chose such a short poem to express so much as he did in down by the salley gardens, for he could have equally chosen to write a much lengthier poem on such grave topics. however, he has chosen a repetitive and simplistic approach, which disarms the reader immediately. the reader is captured by the folk-like story telling approach and relates his/her own experiences and knowledge to the poems theme. who can help me with my homework passed the salley gardens with little snow-white feet. and on my leaning shoulder she laid her snow-white hand.
