ophelia also did love hamlet very much but she was restricted to return her feelings to him because of her my dream vacation writing, polonius, wishes. polonius disallows ophelia to have a relation with hamlet because of what his true intentions towards her really might be. ophelia loved her father like any daughter would to their own father. that being said, polonius' death probably was one of the 8.04 writing assignment reasons that started to drive ophelia towards insanity. also the 8.04 writing assignment hateful remarks, coming from hamlet, played a part in her madness also. these two reasons sound very similar to hamlet's own (self-proclaimed) madness.
